Come in and create the dog of your dreams! What mix of breeds would you like in your dog? I switched off the tv. “Cloning pets, wow who do we think we are? God?”It was the worst day of my life from what I can remember, I hated to see my mother cry, today the tears seemed to be sprinting down her face, stopping and then dripping from her chin before they landed on her shirt. She had been pregnant for around two months and she before was glowing. Now she seemed ghostly, see she had just lost her baby, my sister. My dad and I tried to comfort her but nothing worked, we knew for a few days this was all we would be seeing.
The next day my mom managed to plod out of bed and head down to the doctor for a checku, we didnt expect what the doctor was going to tell us. He saw how down my mother had been and told us about a new scientific revolution that our family would be one the first to try. The only word I could seem to understand from all his adept words was cloning. Cloning? We were going to clone my dead sister? Yep, maybe playing “God” wasn’t so bad after all.
The doctor took a long needle and inserted it into my mother and slowly took out my sister’s DNA from the embryo, the doctor then told us he would send the DNA to a lab where it would placed inside a new egg, then onto a surrogate mother, and in nine months our baby would be on her way home. My mother was glowing and all was peaceful again. Nine months seemed to fly by. We finally got the call that my sister was going to be arriving on at the airport in a few hours, Driving in the car I could feel every nerve in my body shiver with excitement. As we pulled into the parking lot and headed for the gate where she would be arriving, we realized we had visitors as well. Every newspaper and news channel imaginable was there waiting to hear our story. I started to tell my story to the man I saw on the news every morning. “Uhh yeah my mom had a miscarriage a while back and this doc” I was int errupted by a sudden eruption of flashes and yells. My sister had just arrived, and my mom was crying again, this time it was tears of joy. We grabbed our new family member and hurried home with her.
Patty settled perfectly right into our family.Life couldn’t of been any better. Many families after us soon had their children cloned. None of these cloned children met until problems started to arise. Waaa! Waaa! I ran into Patty’s room to see what was wrong, assuming that her diaper needed a changing. As I was changing her diaper I noticed little stumbs starting to grow on either side of her legs. I screamed for my mother, we immediately rushed her to the emergency room. They had no clue what was wrong with her, so they sent us home and told us to return if the symptoms got worse. Things got much worse. In a matter of three days two fully grown legs had sprouted from the stumps, and now arms seemed to be growing from her already existing ones. We knew right away that the cloning had something to do with this. We again rushed her the ER and again the doctors were stumped, the doctor who helped us made a phone call to who we thought was the or iginal doctor who told us about the cloning. He said the doctor would be coming down to examine Patty. In a matter of minutes men in black suits walked into the room and picked up Patty threatening us to not follow, for they had guns poking out from their belts. This time my mother didn’t cry when she lost her daughter, she’d been through this before and she should of known better that having her daughter cloned wasn’t a good idea. Playing “god” didn’t sound so acceptable anymore.
